About
Bravado Fiction is a Brussels-based, Belgian audiovisual fiction production-company, set-up in August 2019 by veteran “executive producer” Jan Theys.
In recent years Theys has been involved, in various functions at Skyline Film & TV and at De Mensen, in Flemish fiction-projects with some international appeal, such as “Salamander”, “Professor T”, “Beau Séjour”, “Team Chocolat”, “Undercover”, “Crossroads” and “Diamonds”.
In December 2019 ndF (Neue Deutsche Filmgesellschaft) decided to join Bravado Fiction as an important shareholder.
ndF was founded in 1948 and is now the most important still fully independent tv-production-company in Germany, currently producing 3 out of the 7 best-scoring tv-fiction-series in Germany.
Before joining Bravado Fiction, ndF had already invested in Viola Film in Rome / Italy. Viola recently produced the highly successful RAI-series “Ognuno è Perfetto”, a remake of the De Mensen’s “Team Chocolat” series.
ndF, Viola and Bravado are, together with Intaglio (ZDF + Beta Film), all involved in the big international series “The Swarm”, an ecological thriller based on Frank Schätzing’s best-selling novel.
During the past 18 months Jan Theys and his talented team of writers, directors and actors have been developing a series of original fiction projects, combing the Flemish/Belgian DNA of Bravado with universal angles and international commercial potential.
“Michel on the Ropes” is being financed by Flemish streamer Streamz and Studiocanal (Canal+) from France.
“Tarantulas” has been commissioned by Vier (SBS) and Telenet in Flanders, with strong interest from Italy and a potential American co-producer.
Drama Team from Tel Aviv and Capa Drama from Paris joined Bravado as co-producer of“Mossad, the Brussels Diaries”.
“The Hidden” generates solid international interest.
“The Next King” is in development for German broadcaster NDR / ARD.
“Nutcase” is currently being pitched by ndF: in Germany.
Pitching of “New Order”, “Serving Time”, “Sehnsucht” and “Black Hats” has just started, in Belgium and globally…
