Shadowplay

A feature film

We all have at least this one decisive moment in our lives. So did Walter, a successful scriptwriter of feature films, who is happily married and has a daughter of eight. During a trip abroad, he meets a young and pretty journalist, who happens to be a fan. Walter doesn’t realize this is his moment. He certainly doesn’t know that the choice he is about to make, will have grave consequences …

Ten years later, Walter is living on his own in a small and shabby apartment. He is struggling to write the script of his own life story. In his imagination, his new neighbour is playing the part of the journalist.

Shadow Play is a feature film with the characteristics of a tragic-comedy, telling the story of an eccentric and funny misanthrope, whose life will change completely when a young and spontaneous woman moves to his next door apartment. But this is only the surface.  On a deeper level, the film is about an excruciating feeling of guilt and how to cope with it, told in the form of a mind-game, questioning the whole time what is real and what is not. What seems to be real, could well have been completely made up. And what looks to be made up, is in fact painfully real…
